Israel-Poland-Ukraine: Mashmaut Center & Kiryat Motzkin Go International

A unique international Zoom program connected students from Kiryat Motzkin, Płońsk (Poland), and Ternopil (Ukraine), fostering cross-cultural dialogue and strengthening global partnerships.

Today marked the exciting opening of a unique international Zoom program, a joint initiative of Mashmaut Center and Foreign Relations Department of Kiryat Motzkin Municipality. The special meeting brought together three cities: Kiryat Motzkin (Israel), Płońsk (Poland – Kiryat Motzkin’s twin city), and Ternopil (Ukraine – Płońsk’s twin city).
Student representatives from grades 7–8 at “Yonatan” Junior High School met with their peers from Poland and Ukraine. The program, led by Mashmaut Center, was designed to build international bridges and promote meaningful cross-cultural understanding.
The session opened with remarks highlighting the strong and enduring relationship between Kiryat Motzkin and Płońsk, including a reflection on the visit of the Płońsk mayoral delegation to the city. The Mayor of Kiryat Motzkin, Tsiki Avissar, also addressed participants, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in strengthening the city’s resilience and international connections.
Participants were honored to hear greetings from Mr. Łukasz Levi, representative of the Polish Embassy in Israel, as well as from the Deputy Mayors of Płońsk and Ternopil, all of whom praised the initiative and its impact. School principals and educators further underscored the importance of such programs in shaping students personal development and global perspective.
The highlight of the meeting was an interactive workshop led by Inbal Raz from Mashmaut Center, during which students discovered that they share far more similarities than differences. The enthusiastic and heartfelt feedback from both students and educators reflected the powerful impact of the encounter and the promise of continued collaboration.

ישראל-פולין-אוקראינה: מרכז משמעו"ת וקריית מוצקין בזירה הבינלאומית

תוכנית זום בינלאומית חדשה המחברת בין תלמידים מקריית מוצקין, פלונסק (פולין) וטרנופול (אוקראינה), במטרה לחזק קשרים בין-תרבותיים ולהעמיק את שיתופי הפעולה הבינלאומיים של העיר.

18.2.2026 | שבט תשפ"ו

תוכנית הזום הבינלאומית המשולשת נפתחה היום בהתרגשות, ביוזמה משותפת של מרכז משמעו"ת וקשרי החוץ של עיריית קריית מוצקין. המפגש המיוחד חיבר בין שלוש ערים: קריית מוצקין (ישראל), פלונסק שבפולין – עיר תאומה לקריית מוצקין, וטרנופול שבאוקראינה – עיר תאומה לפלונסק.
במפגש השתתפו נציגי תלמידים ותלמידות מכיתות ז'-ח' מחטיבת הביניים "יונתן", אשר נפגשו עם בני גילם מפלונסק ומטרנופול. התוכנית נבנתה והובלה על ידי מרכז משמעו"ת, מתוך מטרה לחזק גשרים בין-תרבותיים, לעודד דיאלוג ולבסס קשרים בינלאומיים משמעותיים.
את המפגש פתחו בדברי ברכה שעסקו בקשרים האמיצים בין קריית מוצקין לפלונסק, ובביקורה של משלחת ראש עיריית פלונסק בעיר בעבר. ראש העיר, ציקי אבישר, בירך את המשתתפים והדגיש את חשיבותם הרבה של מפגשים מסוג זה לחיזוק החוסן הקהילתי והקשרים הבינלאומיים של העיר.
במהלך המפגש נשמעו גם דברי ברכה ממר לוקאס לוי, נציג שגרירות פולין בישראל, וכן מנציגי הנהגות הערים פלונסק וטרנופול. צוותי החינוך והנהלות בתי הספר הדגישו את תרומתו של המיזם לעיצוב דור העתיד ולטיפוח ערכים של פתיחות, סובלנות ושיתוף פעולה.
שיאו של המפגש היה בפעילות היכרות בין התלמידים והתלמידות ובסדנה שהועברה על ידי ענבל ממרכז משמעו"ת, במסגרתה למדו המשתתפים לזהות כי רב המשותף על השונה ביניהם.
התגובות והמשובים מהתלמידים ומהמחנכים היו מחממי לב ומעוררי השראה, והמחישו את עוצמתו של המפגש האנושי ואת חשיבותם של קשרים בינלאומיים כבר בגיל צעיר.

Living Memory in the Hearts of the Younger Generation

Two meaningful evenings were held in Kiryat Motzkin, featuring Holocaust survivors Zvi Natan and Yona Unger. Organized in collaboration with Mashmaut Center and the Youth Department, these gatherings connected young people with powerful, living testimony.

Even in the shadow of security tensions and the challenges posed by ongoing missile threats, we chose to continue creating spaces for listening, learning, and remembrance. As part of this effort, two central evenings were held: one at the Israeli Scouts movement with Zvi Natan, and another at the Mashmaut Center with Holocaust survivor Yona Unger, for members of youth movements in Kiryat Motzkin.
These gatherings, organized in partnership with the Youth Department, provided a rare opportunity for a direct encounter with living testimony – one that connects the younger generation to the story, the memory, and the profound responsibility to carry it forward.
Our heartfelt thanks to Ziva, Einav, and the movement coordinators for this important and meaningful partnership.
Today, more than ever, we act in the spirit of Elie Wiesel:

"המקשיב לעד הופך לעד": זיכרון בסלון במשמעו"ת

במוצאי יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה, קיים מרכז משמעו"ת שני מפגשי עדות מרגשים במיוחד עבור חניכי וחניכות תנועות הנוער בקריית מוצקין: הראשון בתנועת הצופים והשני במרכז משמעו"ת. היה משמעותי, נוגע ומעורר מחשבה עבור בני ובנות הנוער שלקחו באירועים אלו חלק.

15-16.4.2026 | ניסן תשפ"ו

במוצאי יום הזיכרון קיים מרכז משמעו"ת שני מפגשי עדות מרגשים ומיוחדים עם שורדי שואה ונוער.
גם בצל המתיחות הביטחונית ואתגרי הירי, בחרנו להמשיך ולפעול – וליצור מרחבים של הקשבה, למידה וזיכרון. במסגרת זו התקיים מפגש בבתנועת הצופים שבט תבור בקריית מוצקין עם שורד השואה יליד בולגריה צבי נתן. והשני במרכז משמעו"ת, בהשתתפות שורד השואה יליד הונגריה יונה אונגר, עבור חניכי וחניכות תנועות הנוער בקריית מוצקין.
המפגשים התקיימו בשיתוף פעולה עם מחלקת הנוער, והיוו הזדמנות נדירה למפגש בלתי אמצעי עם עדות חיה – כזו שמחברת את הדור הצעיר לסיפור, לזיכרון ולמשמעות העמוקה של האחריות להעבירו הלאה.
תודה מקרב לב לזיוה, לעינב ולרכזי התנועות על שותפות דרך משמעותית וחשובה זו.
היום, יותר מתמיד, אנו פועלים ברוח דבריו של אלי ויזל: "מי שמקשיב לעד, הופך לעד."

On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, special billboards have been displayed across the city, featuring the city’s Holocaust survivors – the men and women who will light the ceremonial torches at this year’s central event.
This initiative by Mashmaut Center and Motzkin Municipality seeks not only to honor the survivors, but also to bring their stories into the public space – into the everyday paths we all walk, where we can pause, reflect, and remember.
In a complex reality, where it often feels that everything changes from moment to moment, memory serves as a vital anchor. Memory is not only a reflection of the past – it is a force that strengthens us in the present and shapes our future.
It calls on us to continue telling, to keep listening, and to take responsibility for passing these stories on to future generations.
These billboards are more than images – they are living testimony, a call to action, and a bridge between generations. Through the faces and stories of the survivors, we remind ourselves – and the younger generation – of the importance of memory, identity, and shared responsibility.
Memory is strength.
Now more than ever, we choose to remember – and never forget.

זיכרון הוא חוסן: מדליקי המשואות תשפ"ו

לקראת יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה תשפ"ו, נתלו ברחבי העיר שלטי חוצות והציגו את שורדות ושורדי השואה -הגיבורים והגיבורות שלנו – שנבחרו להשיא משואה השנה. באופן זה אנו מכבדים אותם, משמרים את זיכרון השואה ומעבירים לדור הצעיר מסר ברור: זיכרון הוא חוסן.

לקראת יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה, נתלו ברחבי קריית מוצקין שלטי חוצות מיוחדים, המציגים את שורדות ושורדי השואה בני העיר—הגיבורים והגיבורות שלנו, שידליקו השנה משואות בטקס המרכזי.
זוהי יוזמה משותפת של מרכז משמעו"ת ועיריית קריית מוצקין, שמבקשת לא רק לכבד את השורדים, אלא גם להנכיח את סיפורם במרחב הציבורי—במקום שבו כולנו עוברים, מביטים ונזכרים.
במציאות מורכבת, שבה נדמה לעיתים שהכול משתנה מרגע לרגע, יש ערך עמוק לעוגנים של זיכרון. הזיכרון אינו רק מבט לעבר—הוא כוח שמחזק אותנו בהווה ומעצב את עתידנו.
הוא מחייב אותנו להמשיך לספר, להקשיב, ולשאת באחריות להעביר את הסיפור לדורות הבאים.
שלטי החוצות הם לא רק תמונות—הם עדות חיה, קריאה לפעולה, וגשר בין דורות. דרך פניהם וסיפוריהם של השורדים, אנו מזכירים לעצמנו ולצעירים שבינינו את חשיבות הזיכרון, הזהות והאחריות המשותפת.
זיכרון הוא חוסן.
גם היום, יותר מתמיד—אנו בוחרים לזכור, ולא לשכוח.

Carrying the Torch of Memory: Holocaust Remembrance Day 2026 in Kiryat Motzkin

As part of the events marking Holocaust Remembrance Day, a moving visits were held in the homes of Holocaust survivors aged 100 and above, alongside a special tribute ceremony for the torch lighters at Mashmaut Center. These events highlight the deep commitment to preserving memory and passing it on from generation to generation.

As part of the commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day 2026, heartfelt visits took place in the homes of Holocaust survivors aged 100 and above. During these visits, certificates of appreciation were presented, accompanied by soldiers and students from Mashmaut Center, as a gesture of gratitude and recognition for the survivors life stories, resilience, and many years of contribution.
A special tribute ceremony for the torch lighters was later held, during which a medal was awarded by Eti Katan from the Authority for the Rights of Holocaust Survivors, along with a commemorative gift. The ceremony took place in the presence of Mayor Tziki Avisar, Deputy Mayor Gandi Dozartzev, Head of the Community Department Michal Tuvia, Volunteer Coordinator Adi Pinto, representatives of the Welfare Department led by Maayan Solomon, Ira – Head of the Absorption Department, participants of the ceremony that was broadcast the previous evening, teacher Shifra Kevin Mashmaut Center Stuff, and many guests.
The event marked a powerful moment of honor, remembrance, and appreciation, connecting different generations around the stories of Holocaust survivors and the significance of memory for Israeli society as a whole.

נושאים את לפיד הזיכרון: יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה תשפ"ו במוצקין

במסגרת אירועי יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה תשפ"ו, התקיימו ביקורי הוקרה מרגשים בבתי שורדי ושורדות שואה בני 100 ומעלה, לצד טקס הוקרה למדליקי המשואות במרכז משמעו"ת. האירועים הדגישו את מחויבות הקהילה להמשכיות הזיכרון מדור לדור.

במסגרת ציון יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה תשפ"ו, נערכו ביקורים מרגשים בבתי שורדי ושורדות שואה בני 100 ומעלה. במהלך הביקורים הוענקו תעודות הוקרה בליווי חיילים, חיילות, תלמידים ותלמידות ממרכז משמעו"ת, כאות תודה והערכה על סיפור חייהם, תעצומות נפשם ותרומתם רבת השנים.
בהמשך התקיים טקס הוקרה מיוחד למדליקי המשואות, במסגרתו הוענקה מדליה על ידי אתי קטן מהרשות לזכויות ניצולי שואה, לצד תשורה חגיגית. הטקס נערך במעמד ראש העיר ציקי אבישר, סגן ראש העיר גנדי דוזרצב, מנהלת אגף קהילה מיכל טוביה, רכז המתנדבים עדי פינטו, נציגות אגף הרווחה בהנהלת מעין סולומון, אירה – מנהלת מחלקת הקליטה, משתתפי ומשתתפות הטקס שהוקרן אמש, המורה שיפרה קווין, צוות מרכז משמעו"ת ואורחים רבים.
האירוע היווה רגע שיא של כבוד, זיכרון והוקרה, וחיבר בין דורות שונים סביב סיפורם של שורדי השואה ומשמעות הזיכרון עבור החברה הישראלית כולה.
זהו יום מרגש במיוחד, המחדד את האחריות המוטלת על כולנו – לשאת את לפיד הזיכרון ולהעבירו מדור לדור.

Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony 2026

Despite the complex situation, which prevented a shared public gathering, the municipal ceremony for Holocaust Remembrance Day in Kiryat Motzkin was recorded and broadcast to the public. The memory continues to resonate – even from afar.

There are days in the year when the heart calls on us to pause together, to look back, and to remember. This year, the reality did not allow us to stand shoulder to shoulder and gather for the ceremony as we are accustomed to, and as we would have wished.
And yet, the memory of the Holocaust continues to be within us, even without an audience in the hall. a deep sense of mission and a desire to grant this day the honor it deserves, the municipal ceremony, led by Mashmaut Center and marking 80 years since the Nuremberg Trials and 65 years since the Eichmann Trial, was recorded with great care, dedication, and thought for each and every one of us.
Precisely in these days, when there are those who seek our harm, it is important to remember that we no longer stand defenseless. We have a state of our own and an army that protects our lives and our future. From this place of strength and security, we must continue to remember and to remind others of the dark periods in history when the Jewish people were persecuted and without protection.
This memory strengthens the meaning of what we have today, and the responsibility to preserve it.
The ceremony was broadcast on Holocaust Remembrance Day on the Kiryat Motzkin Municipality’s Facebook page and YouTube channel at 20:00. It featured participation from Mashmaut Center staff, local youth, educators, and volunteers. The ceremony included testimony readings delivered by participants under the guidance of Dr. Leah Ganor, alongside musical segments.
One of the ceremony’s most powerful moments was the reading of the previously concealed testimony of Yehiel Dinur (Ka-Tzetnik) from the Eichmann Trial, performed by actor and Mashmaut volunteer Gil Danino.

טקס יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה תשפ"ו 2026

למרות המציאות הביטחונית שמונעת התכנסות משותפת, הטקס העירוני ליום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה בקריית מוצקין צולם מראש והוקרן לקהל הרחב. הזיכרון ממשיך לפעום – גם מרחוק.

13.4.2026 | ניסן תשפ"ו

יש ימים בשנה בהם הלב מבקש שנעצור יחד, נביט לאחור ונזכור. השנה, המציאות הביטחונית לא איפשרה לעמוד כתף אל כתף ולהתכנס לטקס יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה כפי שאנו רגילים – וכפי שהיינו רוצים. 
ובכל זאת, זכר השואה ממשיך לפעום בתוכנו גם כשאין קהל באולם. מתוך תחושת שליחות עמוקה ורצון להעניק ליום הזה את הכבוד הראוי לו, הטקס העירוני, בהובלת מרכז משמעו"ת ובנושא 80 שנה למשפט נירנברג ו-65 שנה למשפט אייכמן, צולם מראש – בהשקעה רבה ובמחשבה על כל אחת ואחד מאיתנו.
דווקא בימים האלה, כאשר יש מי שמבקשים את רעתנו, חשוב לזכור שאיננו עומדים עוד חסרי ישע. יש לנו מדינה משלנו וצבא המגן על חיינו ועל עתידנו. מתוך המקום הזה של כוח וביטחון, עלינו להמשיך לזכור ולהזכיר את התקופות האפלות בהיסטוריה שבהן העם היהודי היה נרדף וללא הגנה.
הזיכרון הזה מחזק את המשמעות של מה שיש לנו היום – ואת האחריות לשמור עליו.
הטקס שודר בערב יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה בעמוד הפייסבוק ובערוץ היוטיוב של עיריית קריית מוצקין, בשעה 20:00. ולקחו בו חלק צוות משמעו"ת, נוער וצוות חינוכי מהעיר ומתנדבים. הטקס לווה בקטעי עדויות שקראו המשתתפים בהנחייתה של ד"ר לאה גנור וכן קטעי שירה.
אחד מרגעי השיא בטקס הוא הקראת העדות הגנוזה של יחיאל דינור (ק.צטניק) במשפט אייכמן, אותה קרא השחקן המתנדב במשמעו"ת גיל דנינו.
