On May 23rd, a conference was held in Warsaw to mark the 80th anniversary of the Reinhardt Operatin and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Jewish Historical Institute, in which Dr. Leah Ganor, director of the Mashamaut Center, took part.
As part of her lecture, Ganor presented the findings of her research on air crew members who survived the Holocaust "From Rebirth to the Sky", which describes the contribution of air crew members who survived the Holocaust, served in the Israeli Air Force from its early years and took part in the establishing the strength of the force.
Out of 300 aircrew members who served in the mid-1950s (the days of Sinai War), there were about 120 Holocaust refugees, pilots and base commanders, who were present at decision-making points in the Air Force.
The lecture was broadcast live on YouTube and on the networks.
