Unknown stories: The Eichmann trial

The target audience: 8th grade and up, according to the age group, soldiers and adults

The Eichmann trial was one of the most famous espionage cases in intelligence. Aa Israel, a small and young country, sends agents to the other side of the world to capture one of the most wanted (greatest) Nazi criminals. In addition to being a mysterious story, this trail was also a meaningful point for dealing with the story lives of the Holocaust survivors in Israeli society.
In this study day “Unknown Espionage Cases: The Eichmann Trial”, we highlight the path that led to the capture of Adolf Eichmann. The activity is structured in an experiential way that exposes the students to Israeli spying and intelligence. While getting to know the term “unknown” and what is an “unknown story”, the students will study figures from the world of Israeli intelligence and will embark on a fascinating journey on the way to Eichmann’s capture – the places he lived,  the false identity, parts of the Mossad’s “Operation Finale” that brought him to trail in the young State of Israel.
Exposing the students to the Eichmann story through the world of Israeli espionage gives added value to the students to learn not only about the trail, but also about the people who made it possible.

The goals
1. Exposure to the Eichmann case and its implications on the memory of the Holocaust in Israeli society.
2. Cultivating curiosity among students to learn about historical events in Israel’s history.
3. Getting to know key figures in the Eichmann trail affair.
Activity duration: 2 hours | Type of activity: Educational workshops.
