The visit began with a reception hosted by Mayor Tziki  Avisar and municipal officials, followed by the main event at the Mashmaut Center, attended by a large audience, including Holocaust survivors, youth, teachers, directors of schools and second generation.
During his visit, the ambassador met with Holocaust survivors aged 90-97, in an emotional and deeply moving encounter that left no eye dry. Also present were four generations of activists involved with the Mashmaut Center: second-generation advocates, third-generation educators and administrators, and fourth-generation students. These young students are engaged in various center programs, including Young Ambassadors and Youth for Holocaust Remembrance, an initiative led in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The program is overseen by Einav Yaniv Schwartz, coordinated by Betty Danon, and managed at the Mashmaut Center by Inbal Raz.
A special musical performance was given by the Representative Band, "Kova Tembel" directed and choreographed by Iris Beit Halevi Schneider, with musical direction by Noam Zlatin. The audience was captivated by their beautiful singing. Band member Naama Ben Hur shared the ensemble’s experiences from a unique project marking the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the Mashmaut center. As part of this initiative, they hosted a youth choir from Poland, visited Poland, and performed together at the official ceremony in Warsaw commemorating the uprising.
Dr. Keren Bavli, Director of Yonatan Junior High School, shared her insights from a recent educational tour organized by the Polish Embassy in Israel and the Mashmaut Center. Additionally, students from the Young Ambassadors Project, along with teacher Sigal, shared their experiences. Mrs. Gita Koifman, Chairwoman of the Organization of Survivors of Concentration Camps and Ghettos in Israel, spoke on behalf of the survivors.
Dr. Lea Ganor, Director of the Mashmaut Center, who led the visit, spoke about the center’s activities, its dedicated team, and ongoing projects with twin cities in Poland. She highlighted collaborations with schools and teachers, fostering open dialogue and educational programs through both virtual and in-person meetings. The visit proved highly productive, generating new ideas for future collaborations.
Mayor Tziki Avisar emphasized the significance of the Mashmaut Center’s educational work and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Lea Ganor, who also serves as the Kiryat Motzkin Municipality’s Director of Foreign Relations. The ambassador, in turn, expressed deep appreciation for the center’s efforts in fostering meaningful connections between Israel and Poland through educational initiatives and cross-cultural programs.
Special thanks go to the Ambassador, the diplomatic delegation, Mayor Tziki Avisar, school directors, teachers, and students who actively contribute to these projects. Heartfelt gratitude is also extended to the Holocaust survivors, whose resilience continues to inspire our educational mission, as well as to the professional and dedicated Mashmaut team and all our partners.
The event concluded with a collective hope for the safe return of the hostages.
