A Joyful and Meaningful Purim Celebration at MASHMAUT

A warm and moving Purim celebration was held at the MASHMAUT Center, dedicated to Holocaust survivors. The event was filled with light, joy, and a deep sense of intergenerational connection, highlighting the strength of community and the enduring power of memory.

The celebration took place through a meaningful collaboration with the Authority for the Rights of Holocaust Survivors in Israel, the Municipal Welfare Department, and the Community Relations Department. This joint effort played a significant role in creating a respectful, uplifting, and memorable experience for all participants.
A particularly touching moment was the participation of ninth-grade students as part of the “Youth for Holocaust Remembrance” program, from the following schools:
  • Rabin Junior high-School (Kiryat Motzkin)
  • Afek Junior high-School (Kiryat Bialik)
  • Rogozin Junior high School (Kiryat Ata)
Accompanied by the program coordinators at their schools, the students delivered heartfelt greetings that deeply moved everyone present. The initiative operates in cooperation with the Ministry of Education – Youth and Society Administration, in partnership with the MASHMAUT Center, and is led by dedicated educational and professional teams.
The Mayor, Tziki Avisar, addressed the audience with moving and encouraging remarks. Also in attendance were Deputy Mayors, municipal representatives, the volunteer coordinator, and the Director of the Jewish Culture Department, all of whom came to celebrate and show their support.
The festivities included singing and dancing accompanied by live music, as well as a powerful personal story shared through the “A Story in a Suitcase” initiative, adding an important layer of testimony and remembrance. Soldiers also joined the event, coming to honor the survivors and celebrate together.
The MASHMAUT Center extends its sincere gratitude to its devoted staff, volunteers, and all those who contributed their time and effort to the success of this event. Above all, special thanks are extended to the Holocaust survivors—for their presence, their smiles, and the strength and inspiration they continue to offer every single day.
Happy Purim!
