From Rebirth to the Sky
"From Rebirth to the Sky" is a unique project that commemorates the contribution of air crew members who survived the Holocaust, who served in the Israeli Air Force from its early years and who took part in establishing the strength of the force.
Out of 300 aircrew members who served in the mid-1950s (the days of Sinai War), there were about 120 Holocaust refugees, pilots, commanders and base commanders, who were present at decision-making points in the Air Force.
The project is based on innovative and ground-breaking research by Dr. Leah Ganor, director of the Mashmaut Center on behalf of the University of Haifa, the Herzl Institute, and the Association for the "From Rebirth to the Sky".
