August 2025
In Lublin, the tour passed through Kazimierz Dolny, the Wall of Tombstones and the Synagogue, and the Yeshiva of Lublin. In addition, the members of the delegation met with the Marshal of Lublin in a heart-warming welcome. Thanks to Prof. Sabina Buber and the Marshal for the welcome and the activity of commemorating the Jewish communities in the Lublin region. The evening ended with an exciting meeting with Polish friends who stand with Israel.
Another day full of experiences began with learning and exciting meetings in eastern Poland. First at the Jewish synagogue in Włodawa, a place that serves as a center for connecting three religions. Then a meeting with the head of the district and friends who work hard to preserve Jewish tradition.
The delegation continued to visit the brutal Sobibor extermination camp. After another hour of driving, we arrived for an exciting visit to the renovated Jewish cemetery in the city of Radzyn Podlaskie, followed by a visit and important meeting at the largest technological high school in the area, including a meeting with teachers and the school administration, along with the head of the district.
At the end of the day, the delegation members traveled to the Pototcky Palace for a concluding meeting with the head of the district, the mayor, members of the city council, and the work teams that promote the preservation of Judaism living in the city for two hundred years, including a festive dinner for all members of the delegation including a special recognition of Dr. Lea Ganor for her work to preserve Jewish heritage in Poland, strengthen the Israeli-Polish dialogue, and build an educational bridge between the generations in Israel and Poland over many years.
Another important visit took place with the Israeli Ambassador to Poland, Mr. Yaakov Finkelstein. This was a wonderful opportunity to discuss the educational work and dialogue that Mashmaut Center and the twin cities of Kiryat Motzkin in Poland are conducting with the aim of creating a bridge between people and countries. After that, we went on an exciting walking tour following symbolic monuments throughout Warsaw. During the tour, we stood in silence in front of the moving Korczak Memorial, which commemorated the incredible work of Yanush Korczak. Ganor also explained about Stefania Wilczynska, who always worked with Korczak and was the living spirit at his side. From there, we continued to the memorial of the "Oneg Shabbat" archive and Emmanuel Ringelblum, where the members of the delegation learned about the incredible courage of those who documented the horrors of the Holocaust for future generations and the special figure of Dr. Emmanuel Ringelblum.
