On Tuesday (26.9) a group of high school students in the city of Włodawa met for a lecture and a virtual conversation with the director of the Mashmaut Center, Dr. Leah Ganor.
The meeting opened with Ganor’s conversation with the students about the Jews of Włodawa through the personal prism of the story of her family, the Piterman family, whose roots are in the city of Włodawa in Poland. From this, Ganor talked about the journey that led to her educational and research in teaching about the Holocaust.
In the second part of the meeting, the lecture dealt with the history of the State of Israel. Fascinating questions were asked by the youth who expressed a desire to visit in Israel and make contact with Israeli youth. At the base of the lecture, Ganor emphasized, is the view that knowing history and knowledge are an important foundation for the present and building bridges between people and countries in order to strive for a good and common future.
Thanks to Mariusz Czuj who invited Dr. Lea Ganor to the important and exciting meeting with the students.
